The holidays

Thanksgiving was great this past day. It was great to be with the family. Facebook was filled with great cheer and pictures of food. I saw alot of happy Dallas Cowboys fans after their triumphant win the other day. I also saw some great holiday quotes and nice fat round bellies. I checked my facebook and also noticed that the entrepreneur does not sleep. This holiday was followed by party after party. I think it was a great way to promote this year. I checked my facebook and sure enough a party called the Pre Playa thanksgiving party was the place to be. Love it or hate it facebook will connect you to someone or some hotspot event. Free publicity will never get old. Facebook will continue to be a promoters bestfriend in the day and age we live in today. I also noticed that James Harden and Matt Kemp made their way downtown to make an appearance in the club in Brick Town over the holiday weekend. Stay tuned folks who will be spotted next. Check facebook the word will be out soon.

Black Friday Experience

I went to black friday the other day man it was chaotic. It was war I wanted to scream out I am sparta lol. People all over the place every man and woman for themself. This was my first time attending black friday. I went with my mom since she was hip to the black friday experience. I was supposed to go with her last year with my two brothers and my sister but thanks to Mr. Sandman and a full belly I sadly could not attend. Fast forward to this year I am at Wal-Mart the mission is to get a large flat screen T.V. and a PS3 game system. I am standing in line for my flat screen and some boy comes back to his dad telling him I just saw a fight. I am like whoa whats going on. My mother comes back with a PS3 game system in her hand telling me some ladies were yelling and fighting over the last portable DVD players. I thought this was hillarious only on black friday. I know it's wrong but I was thinking only if I had recorded it on my phone I could have posted it on youtube. Wrong I know but isn't social media great.

Football News Spreads fast

Oklahoma State fans are really excited about the loss taken by OU. It seems that karma strikes. Just the other day Oklahoma State was beaten by Iowa State. Now, OU loses to Baylor with a massive upset. Fans from all over the state are taking to twitter and facebook to voice their opinions. Bring on the trash talk. The popular topic I am seeing on facebook is how happy the OSU fans are. The word is that OSU will be playing in the BCS this year. Unlikely you tell me? A strong argument is that OU's star wide reciever is hurt this is the cause of the defeat. This is a strong argument. Hey you gotta love social media everyone let the facebook and twitter wars begin.

Twitter once again

Okay, so if we are talking about twitter content what comes to mind. I am noticing more and more that twitter is gaining popularity. It seems that only yesterday everyone had a myspace ancient right yeah I know lol. People put some wild things on twitter along with crazy pictures of graphic images. Hey I am not complaining but my question is who is able to view these images? Only followers or is this content available to everyone. I can't help but think how an employer might react to someone's twitter content. I was at the wellness playing basketball the other day and everybody was tweeting. Someone would make a joke and upload the joke to twitter. After that point everybody errupted in laughter. I think twitter is a great way for instant responses and immediate correspondence. I need to get my twitter game up as well people.

Oklahoma Research Day

I discovered the power of linkedIn while I was at the Oklahoma Research Day event. I had an opportunity to talk to a man who was in the music department of Oklahoma Research Day. I asked him about his poster content and my own LinkedIn topic came up. I asked him if he was aware of LinkedIn the largest professional business social media site developed. He replied that he actually was aware of LinkedIn and in fact he had created his own professional LinkedIn account. I was impressed, he also began to explain that he in fact found two new employees while utililizing LinkedIn search methods. After talking to him this brought about confirmation of my stance and view point of how LinkedIn when utilized properly can be very effective. I am curious if anyone else had any remarkable or intriguing feedback from others at the Oklahoma Research Day.

Youtube dreams

Over the weekend I found out how easy it is to use youtube. My younger brother is an aspiring rap and singing artist. He has made his own personalized youtube page. On his page he has uploaded video's of himself singing all kinds of songs. He also has uploaded original songs that he has recorded in the studio. I guess he believes that if Justin Beiber can make it from showing his talent on youtube that he can too. I cannot help but think when I was his age I did not have the opportunity to utilize youtube to post music. I believe that youtube is a great way to have one's music heard. My brother is confident that he will make it in the music industry by posting his music online. I believe it is a hard industry to make it into. I do believe that if he continues to use youtube he will receive feedback. I cannot promise him that everyone will like his music but I will tell him that everyone is a critic so be prepared. He is still young and I do enjoy most of his songs he should use youtube as a promotion tool. I think of youtube in this scenario as a type of public relations to create some kind of buzz. Do you guys think youtube is a great way to create free buzz for a new entertainer or an artist? After Justin Beiber made it who is next why not? That is the question lol?

Bricktown Party

This past weekend I had a chance to go downtown I witnessed a lot of costumes and multiple parties and club costume parties. I was alerted about the club costume parties through my facebook. A promoter on facebook promoted a rip the runway 3 theme costume party at a club called Bourban Street located downtown in the heart of bricktown in Oklahoma City. What comes to mind is the power of facebook. Sure, facebook will reconnect you with a distant cousin or an ex-girlfriend, or maybe an old elementary sweetheart. As a business major  thinking about the business side of the matter as a promoter for a club or a company I would utilize the facebook social network  and spread the word. Honestly, bicktown clubs made alot of money that night with all the attention the holiday brought. Do you believe that facebook is the new way to promote and bring awareness to certain products?. It seems very much as so. Why not it's free why not jump aboard and ride this new technology to the promise land?
