This past weekend I had a chance to go downtown I witnessed a lot of costumes and multiple parties and club costume parties. I was alerted about the club costume parties through my facebook. A promoter on facebook promoted a rip the runway 3 theme costume party at a club called Bourban Street located downtown in the heart of bricktown in Oklahoma City. What comes to mind is the power of facebook. Sure, facebook will reconnect you with a distant cousin or an ex-girlfriend, or maybe an old elementary sweetheart. As a business major thinking about the business side of the matter as a promoter for a club or a company I would utilize the facebook social network and spread the word. Honestly, bicktown clubs made alot of money that night with all the attention the holiday brought. Do you believe that facebook is the new way to promote and bring awareness to certain products?. It seems very much as so. Why not it's free why not jump aboard and ride this new technology to the promise land?

The Music Scene
Recently the night club known as Bora Bora in the greater Oklahoma City area has changed it's name. This club was one of the first places that me and a fellow musician by the name of Kendeez performed at. This place was owned by a guy by the name of Navigator. On thursday night this was the number one place to see the local talent of Oklahoma. I remember performing with my boy A-low and Kendeez. I met rappers such as D-low from Hustle team, Chris McCain the "O city poster boy." It's cool to see local talent represent Oklahoma. How Do you feel about your home state? Would you like to see and support a local artist? We finally have the Oklahoma City Thunder which brings attention. Yes, we have successful country artist such as Carrie Underwood and Garth Brooks. What about a hiphop artist wouldn't you like to see Oklahoma put on the map so to speak for its hiphop music? Well, just food for thought. This won't happen overnight that is for sure. I do believe it will happen one day. When I am out selling music such as mixtapes I can detect a feeling of urgency an expression of interest when I have someone purchase some of my music. My question is does this seem achieveable?

I believe twitter is connecting so many different people. I have noticed many of my favorite rappers on twitter using it to alert the fans of their tours and also letting them no when the next album is coming out. This is a great way to market and to network as well. I like the fact that it is free to make an account. I can only see twitter becoming stronger and stronger. Global means that no matter where you are on the planet if you have access to the internet you can become a target for twitter. This is so cool stay in contact with who ever you choose. I heard that the entertainer Nicki Minaj has over a million followers on her twitter account. This is crazy with great power comes great responsibility ha ha.
